Apparently There tsunami at the Mentawai Earthquake 8.3 SR
Meteorological and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released a small tsunami
from the earthquake of 8.3 on the Richter Scale (SR) in the Mentawai
Islands, West Sumatra, on Wednesday (03/02/2016).The tsunami was detected at Cocos Island 10 cm high at 21.15 pm and in Padang as high as 5 cm at 21:40 pm.Head of Data Information and Public Relations BNPB Sutopo Purwo
Nugroho said post BNPB has been able to communicate with the Mentawai
BPBD with radio communications."It
was reported that the condition of the community is safe. People have
been in places that are safe. People in Sikakap, South Pagai, Sipora,
Siberut and the Mentawai Islands others in conditions of safety and
refuge in high places," he said in a release sent to Sindonews. com, Wednesday (03/02/2016).According to Sutopo, in areas on the island and along the western
coast of Sumatra, such as South Nias, Nias, Simeulue, Aceh Singkil, Aceh
Barat, Muko-Muko, the area along North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu
and Lampung were reported safe.No casualties, damage to buildings and the tsunami is not visible on the beach. West Sumatra BMKG has lifted a tsunami warning for 15 regions since 21.30 am."People in the city of Padang and in part on the west coast of Sumatra
responded with a tsunami warning tsunami evacuation shelter," said
Sutopo.Previous BNPB build some shelter and had used public evacuation. It also utilize the roof of the mosque, buildings, schools and others.In some places there was panic, traffic congestion because many people are carrying vehicles."With
